A soundwave print or a mug: which should you make?

A print gives your recording space on the wall. A sound mug brings it into an everyday routine. Compare the formats before you choose.

Illustrative white SoundPrints mug preview with waveform artwork

Choose a print when you want the artwork to be a focal point. Choose a mug when you want the recording to become part of a daily routine. Both use your soundwave design, and either can include an optional playback QR. The best format depends on where it will live and how much detail you want people to see.

Give a print room to breathe

Posters, framed prints and canvas put the soundwave on a larger, flat surface. That space is useful for a long message, a date, a photograph inside the waveform or text that travels around the border. Consider the viewing distance: a sentence that looks clear close to your screen may be hard to read across a room.

Measure the wall space before choosing a size. Check whether the artwork is portrait or landscape, and review it again after changing size. A frame and a canvas have different physical edges, so use the preview for the product you intend to order rather than relying on a previous poster layout.

Keep a mug design readable

A mug has a curved surface and less room for small text. Start with a clear waveform and a short message. SoundPrints offers white and black mugs in the available capacities shown in the builder. Check the design on the actual mug color, particularly when using no background.

Both sides repeats the artwork on the two sides of the mug. Partial wrap and full wrap use more of its printable width. Check the 3D preview from more than one view so you understand where the artwork, handle and optional QR will sit. Text and photographs should keep their proportions when you change the layout.

Decide whether playback belongs on the product

A QR adds a way to hear the recording. It is optional, so you can also make artwork that is purely visual. Anyone who scans an accessible QR may be able to open its destination. Think about where the product will be used before linking a private voice message.

New managed QR links use a unique SoundPrints address. The purchaser can change the destination from the paid order's details without changing the printed code. That changes playback, not the waveform or artwork already printed.

Review the exact version you will buy

  • Check the product, size or capacity, and frame or mug color.
  • Make sure short text stays readable and long text has breathing room.
  • Inspect the print edges and the placement of the QR, if enabled.
  • Look at the final shipping quote before paying.
